Abstract(in English) The meteorological satellite Himawari-8/9 is now under manufacturing and planned to be launched in 2014 and 2016, respectively. Those satellites equipped with earth observation communication subsystem (EOC) which has two functions. One is a function of transmitting the observation data from imager to the ground station and the other is a function to relay environmental data from data collection platforms (DCPs). Ka-band is utilized for transmitting both signals to ground. Ka-band combiner is a component of the EOC subsystem and combines the two Ka-band signals, which are observation data from imager and environmental data from DCPs, and output them to Ka-band antenna. Ka-band combiner consists of two channel band pass filters (CH-BPFs), a waveguide manifold which compounds the output of two CH-BPFs and a low-pass filter (LPF). This document presents the design of Ka-band combiner and test result of proto-flight model. The CH-BPFs realized high isolation between two close channels as well as low insertion losses, and optimum in-band performances of insertion loss and group delay for low signal transmission loss. Spurious suppression and high power resistance are also realized.
