Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The dynamic surface tension, just after the new surface is made, affects various microscale phenomena such as the behavior of droplets made by an inkjet printer and the foaming of detergents. There is, however, no practical method to measure the surface tension in the time range shorter than 1 ms after the formation of a fresh surface. We developed a method to measure the dynamic surface tension by analyzing the oscillation of microdroplets launched from the inkjet system. In this study, we succeeded in exciting the oscillation of multiple microdroplets in a same phase, keeping their flight at almost the same velocity. From the oscillation frequency of each droplet, the temporal evolution of te surface tension is obtained with time resolution as high as 10 μs.
