Abstract(in English) | Mathematical modeling of mechanical dynamics during human upright standing and of population dynamics in prostate cancer cells can show that, in each model, its equilibrium state is an unstable saddle type. Interventions are made by neural commands transmitted to skeletal muscles from the central nervous system in the former, and by drug administrations in the latter, in the dynamics of the controlled object in order to establish bounded stability of the unstable systems. We are interested in intermittency of these interventions. In these cases, dynamics of the control system are described by a hybrid dynamical system consisting of two dynamical systems that correspond to the presence and absence of the intervention. Each of beginning and termination of the interventions is determined in a state-dependent manner, triggering a sequence of switches between two dynamical systems, by which dynamics of the entire control system are determined. In this talk, we consider slow and transient converging dynamics of the state point near the stable manifold of the saddle type unstable equilibrium point in a period of time during which no intervention is made in the controlled system. In particular, we discuss stability robustness, compensatory characteristics against delay-induced instability due to the feedback time delay, superior energetic efficiency in the human postural control and fast response characteristics in the intermittent control of prostate cancer. |
