Development of a photovoltaic cell monitoring system using visible light PWM communication

Abstract(in English) Recently, the construction of large-scale solar power plants used photovoltaic cells has been progressed. With the popularization of photovoltaic power generation, the maintenance of the photovoltaic cell has become important. To maintain the high efficiency of power generation, it is necessary to monitor the condition of power generation and trouble of the photovoltaic cells. Therefore, this study develops a photovoltaic cell monitoring system using visible light PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) communication. In this system, visual judgment of these conditions can be realized. Additionally, we can be got numerical information of these conditions by using PWM communication through a camera. In this study, experimental result showed that this system can monitor an output of photovoltaic cell with sufficient accuracy to determine failure of the photovoltaic panel.
