Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | The present study investigated the effect of familiarity on trust in a cooperative task by measuring to what extent humans allow partner's repeated mistakes. The familiarity is defined by relationship period. A friendship condition in which participants have been keeping more than one-year friendship and a stranger condition in which participants never have friendship with the partner were compared. An experiment with human participants revealed that those who participated in the friendship condition did not assign a task less than those who participate in the stranger condition when their partner failed to perform a cooperative concentration card game. This is possibly caused by consideration for the partner rather than trust to the partner. This indicates that human act in egocentrically when familiarity to the partner is high and avoid being thought to be selfish by the partner when familiarity to the partner is low. |
