| Abstract(in English) | In the present study, human altruistic behavior was used to measure the robot's capability to express emotional states by facial expressions. An experimental investigation with human participants with a tele-operation setting in which two persons interact through a computer animated agent was conducted. A simple line-drawing face was used in order to remove realistic, lifelike and biological human features from the agent's face. Participants were asked to play the ultimatum bargaining game that is usually used to measure human altruistic behavior. All participants were assigned to be the proposer and asked to decide their offer with in one minute. The corners of the mouth of the line-drawing face moved up and down according to the amount of the offer. The results suggests that facial expression change of a simple line-drawing face significantly affected altruistic behavior. Fifteen percent larger amount of offers were yielded by showing contingent facial expression change. |
