Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Heterogeneous networks (HetNets) which set pico-base stations in macrocells are a key technology for LTE/LTE-Advanced to cope with the continuously growing amount of mobile data traffic. This paper describes two types of HetNets configurations, which are "Independent cell type" and "Centralized-radio access network (C-RAN) type", and demonstrates the downlink throughput performance assuming the proportional fairness (PF) scheduling under the criterion of maximizing the PF utility function. Then, we explain about small cell design techniques and their effects at each stage of HetNet design, i.e., (1) Pico-base station placement, (2) Frequency allocation, (3) User connection, and (4) Resource selection.
