Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Energy consumption in data centers has been increasing, though the energy efficiency of information and communications technology(ICT) equipment, air conditioning units and power supply systems are improved. The characteristic trends of energy consumption in data centers have been changing, because the energy consumption of the ICT equipment changes proportionately to the ICT equipment's workload, and virtualization technologies enable the ICT equipment to change configuration and turnoff/on the power dynamically based on utilization, and so on. The energy consumption in data centers will be able to reduced by controlling the ICT equipment, the air conditioning units and the power supply systems cooperatively. This paper describes a design method of energy management systems that save the energy consumption in data centers by cooperating the ICT equipment and the air conditioning units each other, especially requirements for function elements of the energy management system and the interface between function elements.
