Abstract(in English) | In a large-scale natural disaster, almost social/communication infrastructures do not function so that we can experience additional damages as well as making a recovery process extreme slow. To address this situation, we focus on achieving a resilient city that can absorb additional damages and recovery from a disaster situation to a normal situation more quickly. From the viewpoints of communication, we attempt to achieve a strong communication infrastructure that conveys information anytime; such an infrastructure contributes to the resilient city. In the disaster situation in which wireless LAN and 3G/LTE cannot be used, an alternative communication path of pocket switched network, which communicates as a bucket brigade between smartphones that almost people have, is seemed to be effective solution to convey information. Moreover, it is said that a practiced application/service are often used in a disaster situation. Since a pocket switched network has a limitation on amount of transmission data and long delay, we work on network basis considering application/service and the limitations. In this paper, we implement an underlying technology of pocket switched network, namely SABA, in the Android OS as a first step of this research. We also implement a simple text messaging application using SABA that distributes text messages via pocket switched network. In a experiment, we finally confirmed that SABA can achieve communicates between about 20 devices. |
