Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this report, we describe an approach for fast and accurate optical flow estimation using FPGA. The computational complexity of the optical flow estimation is very high, and many hardware systems have been proposed. They have achieved high processing speed, but their error rates are not so good. To achieve both of them, we extend an approach used in the stereo vision for the optical flow. In our implementation, each image is divided into sub-images, and they are processed in turn, to reduce the circuit size and to extend the search area. The processing speed of our system is as fast as the fastest optical flow systems, and its error rate is lower than them.
