Distributed File System Including Database of On-Air Time

Abstract(in English) Communication services, such as video-on-demand, are beginning to spread. The future broadcasting system is demanded to store long-term broadcast contents to provide for the various communication services in addition to the traditional broadcasting service. In this paper, we propose a distributed file system of scale-out that can be accessed the stored contents through a virtual file with on-air time. This file system includes a database for mapping each frame of the stored contents on a temporal axis of the virtual file. This paper describes also the access performance of a prototype system, which is recording the broadcast program for over two years.
