Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) and ionomer in catalyst layer (CL) of electrode were researched to operate polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs) over 100℃. The PEM consisted of main chains of polyetheretherketone and side chains which contained sulfonic groups and hydrophilic SiI_2 was added to the PEM. The resistance and diffusion polarizations of the PEFCs decrease, so that the power-generation characteristics increase. The decrease of the power-generation characteristics of the PEFCs is suppressed at low humidity because the hydrophilic SiO_2 preserves the formed water in the PEM. Sulfonated SiO_2 was used as the ionomer of the cathode CL. The PEFCs can generate power and the power-generation characteristics increases by increase of sulfonic group on the surface of the sulfonated SiO_2. The activation and diffusion polarizations of the PEFCs increase, so that the power-generation characteristics decrease compared with that of the PEFCs which use perfluorosulfonic acid as the ionomer of the cathode CL at present. The resistance polarization of the PEFCs highly increases at low humidity, so that the power-generation characteristics highly decrease. |
