Abstract(in English) This paper describes a method to improve image quality in boundary regions for free-viewpoint video. In segment-based matching for depth estimation, boundary regions in synthetic images incur artifacts for various reasons. Occlusions and blurred boundaries in segments are major reasons for the artifacts. To prevent depth estimation error due to occlusion, our method selects pixels for segment matching and through weighted-blending of pixels around segment boundaries decreases artifacts incurred due to blurred boundaries. Experiments results confirmed the method's effectiveness.
