Adaptive Single-carrier MIMO Transmission with Joint Tx/Rx MMSE Filtering

Abstract(in English) Recently, we proposed an adaptive single-carrier (SC) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission using joint transmit/receive minimum mean square error based filtering (joint Tx/Rx MMSE filtering) to improve the transmission performance of broadband SC-MIMO spatial multiplexing. The proposed method transforms the MIMO channel to the eigenmodes and allocates the transmit power based on MMSE criterion by joint Tx/Rx MMSE filtering. Also, as the received signal-to-interference plus noise power ratio (SINR) of each eigenmode is significantly different, rank adaptation and adaptive modulation are jointly introduced to narrow the received SINR gap between each eigenmode. For wireless packet communications, hybrid automatic repeat-request (HARQ) plays an important role as the error control technique to achieve a higher throughput performance. In this paper, we propose an HARQ packet transmission method of adaptive SC-MIMO with joint Tx/Rx MMSE filtering. The superiority of the proposed method is confirmed by computer simulation.
