Multicore optical amplifier for space-division multiplexing

Abstract(in English) We propose and demonstrate the 7-core multicore erbium-doped fiber amplifier embedded in a common cladding by utilizing core pumping and cladding pumping. In order to achieve the space division Mux. and DeMux., fiber-bundle type fan-in/out was used for core pumping and spatial coupling method was used for cladding pumping with collimator lens. In this report, we suggest a possibility of multicore erbium-doped fiber amplifier for the future transmission network beyond exa-bit/s and represent a applicability to low power consumption and downsizing by utilizing cladding pumping scheme.
