Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Development of private wireless network test-bed based on de-centralized mesh architecture is undergoing in the campus of Tohoku University to promote R&D on disaster-resilient networks. The network consists of a mesh network using WLAN in 5.6GHz band and WLAN access points in 2.4GHz band. The mesh nodes have databases synchronized to each other to manage user and routing information, providing various messaging services even if the connection to the Internet or core networks gets lost under disasters. The test-bed also provides relay networks by the local WiMAX stations, ITS (intelligent transport system) devices onboard motor vehicles, a small unmanned aerial system, and a satellite, in order to connect remotely located nodes or to get a connection to isolated areas caused by the infrastructure damages under disasters. In the test-bed, user terminals such as tablet PCs with WLAN and IC card reader, handheld RF-ID terminals using 920MHz band with GPS receiver, and small outdoor signage terminals are available. |
