Abstract(in English) In a network system in which many communication devices are connected in multipoint topology, it is difficult to find out the cause of the cabling failure such as deterioration, disconnection, and connection miss. Therefore, diagnosis and detecting technology of the cabling failure is strongly desired. In order to overcome this technical challenge, the authors propose a multi-mode TDR method that can detect various cabling failures by using a tabulation of the error list. The proposed method uses four TDR modes as a signal source and measures the condition of the network termination In this method, two types of equivalent network termination is assumed, that is a " yr -type termination " and "T type termination". An advantage of this proposed method is that the method can find the multiple failures such as open and short conditions at same time which was impossible for the conventional TDR method.
