Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Electronic Nose (E-Nose) and Electronic Tongue (E-Tongue) that Alpha MOS has developed combine highly sensitive Gas or Liquid sensors with sophisticated data processing aiming at providing very fast results correlated with chemical compounds and sensory perception. Most of those Electronic Smart Sensing systems are used today within a laboratory environment for R&D, on-line processing and quality control monitoring in various industries. The MEMS micro gas sensors could be equipped with a passive or active filtering system for higher selectivity. The sensors arrays are customizable depending on the application and monitored by a microprocessor. However, there is still a strong demand for cheaper, more application-focused, miniaturized, eventually wireless sensors for real-time analysis purposes. This document describes the current electronic sensing technologies as well as various applications including potential opportunities.
