Abstract(in English) | With the increase of wireless local area networks (WLAN) using the IEEE 802.11 protocol, the interference between WLAN devices has become a significant problem. Access control in IEEE 802 11 is based on Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA), in which packet transmission must wait until the Clear Channel Assessment (CCA) indicates that no other transmissions can be detected However CSMA/CA cannot avoid interference completely because it is possible for different devices to initiate transmissions simultaneously after CCA, and because there may be interference from transmissions that are too weak to be detected by the CCA Moreover, because the IEEE 802 11 has no function to distinguish the reason for transmission failure, appropriate counter-measures cannot be taken. In order to alleviate these problems, a method was proposed for collision detection by transmitting stations in wireless LAN This method uses a time-domain signal processing algorithm to extract features of packets collisions from received power signals In this paper, we report an experimental evaluation of the collision detection algorithm implemented in a prototype cognitive WLAN module Depending on the experimental result, performance evaluation of the proposed algorithm is given. |
