Abstract(in English) | We propose a millimeter-wave signal generation device by use of difference frequency generation (DFG) in a rectangular waveguide embedded with a LiTaO3 crystal. The rectangular waveguide is designed as a single-guided mode structure for the millimeter-wave signal using dispersion characteristics. In order to compensate for phase mismatching between the input lightwave signals and the generated millimeter-wave signal, polarization reversal structure can be used for quasi-phase-matching (QPM). In the experiment, a 60 71 GHz millimeter-wave signal was successfully generated and the measured frequency response was in good agreement with the theoretical frequency response. In this paper, we report on the principle of operation, analysis, fabrication, and experimental results of the DFG device in detail. Besides we propose a new DFG device with a T-shape to obtain a larger millimeter-wave signal. |
