Demonstration of InP Phased-array 8x8 High-speed Optical Switch Matrix

Abstract(in English) An InP phased-array 8x8 switch, having strictly non-blocking architecture is realized for high-speed WDM optical interconnection. The matrix switch consists of over 200 functional devices such as star couplers and phase-shifters without any waveguide cross-section. We demonstrate ultra-broad optical bandwidth covering the entire C-band from several combinations of Input/Output ports with an extinction ratio of more than 20dB. Also, nanoseconds reconfiguration time was successfully achieved by dynamic switching experiment. Error-free transmission was verified for a 40-Gbps (10-Gbps x 4ch) WDM signal.
