Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive technique for exciting the brain or disturbing its function. In TMS, the brain is stimulated using a time-varying magnetic field that induces an electric field that can stimulate the brain. The distribution of the induced electric field, and the affected brain areas, depend on the individual anatomy of the head and brain. This paper proposes a computational method that is based on the finite-element and multigrid methods. Using the proposed method, it is shown that computation of the electric field in realistic anatomical models is fast enough for interactive computations.
