Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Simple integrated-photonic device capable of wavelength-selective optical modulation in a single straight waveguide is proposed and discussed. An interferometer is formed by three integrated distributed Bragg reflectors. A specified-wavelength wave among incident wavelength-division-multiplexed guided waves is split into TE0 and TE1 modes, and combined to be interfered after one of modes is phase modulated. A modulator using EO polymer as a refractive index change material is considered, and it's modulation was predicted theoretically. A sample using thermo-optic effect instead of electro-optic effect was fabricated, and the modulation principle was confirmed experimentally.
