Abstract(in English) | We propose a simple coherent opto-electronic BPSK signal regenerator and experimentally evaluate its noise suppression capability. In the regenerator, coherent detection using an infection-locked semiconductor laser as a local oscillator converts the BPSK signal into a bipolar electrical signal. The electrical signal drives a Mach-Zehnder modulator after being amplified by a limiting amplifier and generates a noise-suppressed BPSK signal. The local oscillator is used as a light source for the output BPSK signal. We confirm penalty improvement larger than 7dB by the regenerator at an input OSNR of l3dB/0.1nm for 10Gb/s RZ-DPSK signal regeneration experiment. |
