Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, the mainstream of cell phones switches over from feature phones to smart phones (e g iPhone, Android). Smart phones generate a larger amount of traffic in comparison to feature phones. Moreover, traffic is increasing rapidly in mobile communication network as the population of smart phones is increasing. The rapid increase of traffic could cause unpredictable degradation of application quality. Although a lot of efforts have been brought to reduce traffic in mobile network, a new approach is still expected In addition, 'antenna icon,' which indicates Just the radio strength of the cell phone, has been used as a way to notify a user the communication quality of its cell phone. However, since each application requires different level of bandwidth, antenna icons are not enough to instruct users. When the bandwidth is not large enough to let an application work, the user experiences the deterioration of application quality like delay. In this paper, we propose a system that recommends applications which users can use by considering the effective throughput. Computer simulations confirm that our proposed system work to reduce traffic.
