Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We study an estimation method for crowd detection on a railway platform. Since it is commonly ob-served that passengers detour crowded areas or decrease walking speeds in a people crowd, we detect these behavior by pedestrian dead reckoning using smartphones and identify the congestion locations. We have conducted several experiments based on a mobility model representing pedestrian behavior on a platform. The results have shown that the proposed method estimates crowded cars with approximately 24 seconds delay when 20% of pedestrians join the system.
