Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is proposed that Linecard Interface is turned off according to traffic monitoring, or prediction to reduce power consumption dynamically. However router consists of Main Control Unit, Packet Forwarding Engine, Service Module Card, and so on, in addition to Lmecard. The Power-Saving effect of reducing Linecard is low relatively. There is no established technology of power-saving operation in units other than Linecard. Furthermore, packets may be lossed if there is a rapid change of traffic in power saving operation in routers. It has been a problem to applying the power-saving system in routers in carrier networks. In this paper, we clarify the unmquired domain to power-saving system in routers, and extract the problem for high power consumption, and realization of the system suitable for actual network operation.
