Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Externally controlled long-period fiber gratings are made by inducing a periodic microbend in a fiber with magnetic force The amplitude of the magnetic force is controlled using either a permanent magnet or an electromagnet The resonance wavelength is shifted over a range of 200 nm by stretching the coil spring on the fiber The loss amplitude at the resonance wavelength is varied from 0 dB to 15 dB according to the magnetic force to the coil spring
