Estimation of the distance and orientation of heavy vehicles using local image features and a 3D model

Abstract(in English) In the present paper, we proposed a new two-stage image processing method for estimating the distance and orientation of a heavy vehicle. The first stage of the processing is the estimation of the orientation by using local image features. The second stage of the processing is the estimation of the relative distance between the heavy vehicle and the camera by using a 3D model. We evaluated this two-stage image processing method by conducting simulation experiments and confirmed the robustness of our method by conducting 3DCG experiments.
