Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Most statements of female victims who are molested by CHIKAN, which means a male who gropes female or the action of molestation in Japanese, contains very little visual or audio information but tactile information. The present study examined how we estimated the tactile information that was applied on the buttocks. We also examined the extent of its estimation certainty. Moreover, the estimation and the certainty were investigated in the conditions whether the tactile information had movement or not. Results indicated that percentage of the correct tactile judgment on the buttocks was 40% in the best performance, therefore it seemed to be difficult to recognize what was applied on the buttocks only by tactile information. Moreover, we have recognized in many cases that the estimation certainties were significantly higher than chance level despite the incorrect answers. These results were shown in both the movement and the non-movement conditions. It has been suggested that the incorrect tactile judgment on the buttocks occur frequently.
