Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Seam carving is one of the effective methods for image retargeting. However, when it is applied to each frame for a motion video sequence, the picture quality of non-linear resized video is significantly degraded because of temporal continuity loss. In this paper, we propose a new video retargeting method to solve the conventional problems. In our algorithm, seam carving is performed on a panoramic background still image called 'sprite', and targeted background frames and foreground objects are trimmed and overlaid based on the global motion. Simulation results show our algorithm works with less video quality degradation.
