Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this report. we propose a vibratory presentation method of information on earthquakes and tsunamis over the data broadcasting of digital broadcasting services by the accessible digital broadcasting receiver (VIA-TV) with a tactile display for visually impaired people. 0n the tactile display, areas on a map vibrate in various frequencies corresponding to seismic intensities or kinds of tsunami warning and advisory. We developed an automatic transformation program, written in eRuby language, of information on seismic intensities and tsunami warnings, sent over the data broadcasting into an XML file for the tactile display, also into text information for readout by a TTS system. The developed method makes intuitive tactile presentation possible for visually impaired people, just like visual information for sighted people.
