Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to investigate better image quality evaluation method, we are trying to use the biological information in place of a subjective image quality assessment based on questionnaire. In this paper, we have investigated the relevance of biological information and the subjective psychological factors of video quality. We focus on the cerebral hemodynamics as the biological information, performs measurement of brain activity using near-infrared spectroscopy, and then evaluates video quality by conventional questionnaire methods. In the experiments, to measure brain activity by presenting repeated four times across the rest of 30 seconds between the video for 10 seconds. After that, we have carried out a subjective assessment by questionnaire of 10 kinds of assessment word. As the video stimulus, we have prepared 12 kinds of video sequences including 4 kinds of uncompressed video sequence. The others video sequences are obtained by H.264 encoder including with packet loss. Consequently, by observing the video degradation, activations of brain activity in the prefrontal cortex and the temporal lobe on both sides were observed.
