A Proposal of Installation Verification Function for Open Source Software Usage Support System

Abstract(in English) Recently, a variety of Open Source Software (OSS) has become used in many computer systems sup- porting the current IT society. Unfortunately, compared with commercial software, OSS is often hard in use due to insufficiency of manuals and installation programs, which has become the obstacle for their popularizations. To solve this problem, we have proposed a Web-based OSS usage support system that consists of the installation/use manual generation function and the manual management function using the content management system (CMS) "Joomla!". In this paper, we propose the installation verification function as a new function in this system. In addition, we propose the automatic grading function for OSS usage educations in universities or colleges. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed functions through applications to students in our laboratory.
