Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Learning activity of copying sentences - reading sentences on papers and writing them down-has been reviewed from the point of views that it makes students write characters more neatly and learn the composition techniques and rules of writing styles. The speed of copying sentences and the number of errors in writing have been used as evaluation criteria of copying activities, while the temporal analysis on writing process didn't provide enough information for teaching copying activities. We introduced digital-pen to digitize writing process and conducted experiments on temporal analysis of writing processes of students at a primary school. The experiments showed that (1)students who copied sentences quickly and had little mistakes, copied sentences phrase by phrase rather than character by character, (2)repeating copying activities made students copy sentences phrase by phrase. The experimental results suggest that the digital-pen system might be useful for temporal analysis of writing process and provide guidance how to teach copying activity more effectively.
