Validity verification of ITU-T Recommendation p. 1201.1 Model Extended for Video Resolution

Abstract(in English) To monitor video quality for progressive download services, we study a video quality estimation model. A video quality estimation model for real-time video streaming services was standardized as ITU-T Recommendation p. 1201.1 in October 2012. The p. 1201.1 model can be used to evaluate video quality due to compression and rebuflfering, so the model can be applied to progressive download services. However, since the model is defined for QCIF, QVGA, and HVGA, it is necessary to investigate whether the model can be applied to other video resolutions that are used for progressive download services. We verified performance figures of the P.1201.1 model that was optimized for three video resolutions (i.e., 480×270, 960×540, and 1920×1080). As a result, we confirmed that the optimized model can accurately estimate video quality for these resolutions.
