Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Drastic expansion of network bandwidth requires a new kind of reliable data transmission technology. It is well known that TCP, most widely used transport protocol, can utilize only small portion of the given bandwidth, especially when RTT is long or frequent packet losses occur. Thus, acceleration of existing TCP applications across WAN poses an important technical challenge. We developed two new protocols on UDP. The first, called RPS, is based on FEC coding and the other one, UNAP, employs an improved ARQ algorithm. In this paper, we present technical details of the protocols and their application to WAN acceleration system.
