Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A mobile phone is getting ready for sensors and aware of various contexts about a user and the terminal itself. The contextual information is utilized to provide an appropriate information/service to a user. In this paper, we propose a placement recognition of a mobile phone terminal on the pedestrian's body. The uniqueness of the proposed method is that it supports recognition not only during walking but also at the time of storing by taking into account the carrying context of a terminal. The proposed method supports recognition not only during walking but also at the time of storing by taking into account the carrying context of a terminal. The experimental results under strict conditions (Leave-One-Subject-Out-Cross-Validation)showed that the accuracy for the recognition while walking and that of storing gesture recognition were 75.7% and 68.5%, respectively. We also report a feasibility study under realistic conditions.
