Color Image Enhancement Based on Differential Value of Intensity/Saturation Components Histogram Equalization

Abstract(in English) A novel image enhancement method in HSI space is proposed in this paper. If hue is changed then the color gets changed. there by distorting the image. Thus, hue preservation is necessary for color image enhancement. Therefore, only intensity component is processed by using intensity and saturation information in the proposed method. The differential value histogram equalization (DHE) is one of excellent enhancement methods for gray-scale images. In DHE method. the gray-level transformation function is generated by using the accumulated differential gray-levels. This paper presents the DHE methods for color images. In the case of the color image, it is well known that the saturation component correlates strongly with the intensity component. In the proposed method, the intensity-level transformation function is derived using both the accumulated differential intensity-level and the accumulated differential saturation-level. The proposed method realized the high quality and colorful color image enhancement.
