A study regarding real-time data processing for Kinect sensor on an embedded-system

Abstract(in English) Recent years, it is coming into use to control equipment by natural human behaviors, such as speech, gestures, and hand gestures. It is known and called as "Natural User Interface (NUI)". In particular, by utilizing Kinect sensor produced by Microsoft, developers are able easily to develop systems using motion capture, gesture recognition, and speech recognition. Currently, many of the systems using Kinect sensor have been developed usually on a general-purpose personal computer. If the sensor can be used on a small and inexpensive embedded-microcomputer, a wider range of its applications are expected. For the purpose of realizing and verifying the data processing of Kinect sensor in real-time on a small and inexpensive embedded-microcomputer, we have developed a simple control system by using a microcomputer board called BeagleBoard-xM, Kinect sensor, Omek Beckon SDK, and a fail with pan-tilt table mechanism. In this report, we describe the verification results of the system.
