Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To achieve enhanced image recognition, it is necessary to extract accurately the contour of the recognition target from the input image in a preprocessing step. Most contour extraction methods are based on the active contour model (Snakes) and the active contour model with structuring elements. A dominant problems on Snakes and the active contour model with structuring elements lies in determining the parameters related to the energy functions and contour extraction from natural images, respectively. Active contour model with structuring elements based on the Hysteresis thresholding was proposed. Improved contour extraction precision was confirmed in extracting contour experiment from natural images. However, the image is assumed of the single object in this experiment. When the image includes multi-object, it is difficult to detect an object individually. This paper introduces a multi-object contour extraction method based on the divide processing.
