Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a new physical-layer handoff method that enables wireless LAN nodes to transit between IEEE 802.11n or a/b/g access points without interruption of communication by using multiple antennas and the SM Power Save feature defined in IEEE 802.11n. This method can be realized within a framework of IEEE 802.11n, which means only a few modifications are necessary on the existing network while mobile nodes need to be devised. We experimentally implemented a handoff program which includes this new method and an IP-layer handoff additionally. By conducting an experiment with commercially available wireless LAN equipment while sending pseudo G.729 packets behind, we succeeded to make handoffs without any loss of packets and special delay of packet transmission.
