Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, there happen severe congestions in mobile networks due to a rapid increase of mobile data traffic. One technology, which is paid attention by mobile operators, is data offloading to wireless LANs. However, data offloading to public wireless LANs has an issue needed to be overcome, in which the current technology does not check the congestion status of wireless LANs before establishing a wireless LAN's connection, so that user's QoE does not meet the requirement. In this paper, we propose an available throughput estimation framework, which provides the available throughput estimation information when a station sends a request to an estimation server via mobile networks. More specifically, we first propose architecture for the available throughput estimation framework, we then develop an available throughput estimation algorithm. Through computer simulation, we evaluate the accuracy of the algorithm under various congestion status.
