Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Cognitive radio (CR) enables the secondary usage in temporal unused portions of licensed spectrum. In autonomous CRNs, SUs sense idle portions of spectrum (spectrum sensing). Furthermore, SUs vacate their use of spectrum for arriving PUs and start re-sensing other idle portions of spectrum to reestablish their connections (spectrum handoff). In this paper, we propose a dynamic spectrum handoff scheme with probabilistic re-sensing for autonomous CRNs and analyze its performance. In this spectrum handoff scheme, those SUs who vacate their use of spectrum for a PU arrival probabilistically start re-sensing or terminate their ongoing transmissions. We model an autonomous CRN with this spectrum handoff scheme by a continuous-time Markov chain, deriving the blocking probability, the forced termination probability and the throughput of SUs. Numerical examples show that the throughput of SUs improves as the re-sensing probability increases.
