Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have been suggesting a system to notify surrounding traffic participants with a driver's cognitive state in order to reduce traffic accidents. Aiming at considering the effects of a proposed system, we have examined whether the judgment of pedestrians for crossing a street may be changed by the system based on a simulation of pedestrians to cross the street. As a result of the experiment, it has been proved that limit distance for pedestrians to judge it possible to cross the street was longer in a case where they did not recognize attention to them by a driver in a car coming over there compared with those cases where they recognized the driver's attention to them or such a case of ordinary cars without any information of direction of driver's attention. As for pedestrians' judgment for crossing streets, it is believed that pedestrians tried to cross streets earlier when a driver's attention was not taken to them utilizing information of driver's attention to them. We have understood from the result of the study that it has been suggested pedestrians may effectively utilize information provided by the system.
