Performance of Turbo Frequency Domain Equalizer Using Iterative Decision-Directed Channel Estimation for DFT-Precoded OFDMA

Abstract(in English) This paper investigates the average block error rate (BLER) performance of turbo frequency domain equalizer (FDE) using iterative decision-directed channel estimation (IDDCE) for discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-precoded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA). By applying IDDCE to turbo FDE, achievable BLER performance level is improved compared to reference signal (RS) based channel estimation (CE). Computer simulation results show that for QPSK, the required average received SNR at the average BLER of 10-2 of turbo FDE using RS based CE is degraded by approximately 1.0,0.7, and 0.7 dB compared to that for ideal CE for R = 1/3, 1/2, and 3/4, respectively, and however that the loss using IDDCE from ideal CE is supressed within 0.4 dB regardless of R value. We also show that improvement in the required average received SNR of turbo FDE using IDDCE from RS based CE is small for 16QAM.
