Abstract(in English) This paper presented field experimental results on a base station (BS) antenna configuration associated with the fading correlation for 4-by-2 multi-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) in the Long Term Evolution (LTE)-Advanced downlink. In our evaluation, we considered four antenna configurations, i.e., combinations of cross- or co-polarized antennas with an antenna array or space diversity antennas. The field experimental results show that the throughput of greater than 1 Gbps is achieved by employing the cross-polarized antenna array for Rank-4 MU-MIMO in Line-Of-Sight (LOS) environment. This is achieved by means of combining high and low fading-correlation antenna pairs. Furthermore, we clarified that the cross-polarized antenna array and the space diversity antenna can achieve the best performance in the environment that LOS and Non LOS (NLOS) is dominant, respectively. The evaluation is carried out with the angle of the MSs is 0 to 60 degrees in the measurement courses and the rank of the MIMO is adapted to the propagation channel correctly.
