Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Indoor wireless backhaul has been considered as a promising candidate of wireless broadband system for mobile communications. In indoor wireless backhaul, a stable radio relay transmission between nodes is required to improve the achievable transmission performance. For this purpose, we have proposed a simple method to extend the existing single antenna node to multi-antenna one and control the antenna directivity of each node in IEEE802.11a based systems, i.e., an intelligent directional antenna control system is applied to the existing relay nodes as an external equipment. In this paper, to clarify the effectiveness of the directional antenna control system in indoor wireless multi-hop networks, we show an indoor radio propagation model based on two dimensional ray-tracing that provides realistic indoor channel characteristics and evaluate throughput performance by system level simulations. Simulation results ensure that application of directional antenna to multi-hop networks with an efficient packet forwarding protocol, called Intermittent Periodic Transmit (IPT), improves throughput performance in indoor wireless backhaul.
