Channel Estimation for MIMO Analog Network Coded Single-Carrier Bi-Directional Relay Communications

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a channel estimation scheme with adaptive window width control for single-carrier (SC) multi-input multi-output (MIMO) analog network coded (ANC) bi-directional relay communication using joint transmit/receive frequency-domain equalization (FDE). In the proposed scheme, by using cyclic shifted pilots, relay station estimates the channel gains between base station (BS) and RS and between mobile terminal (MT) and RS. MT (BS) estimates the equivalent channel gains between MT and MT and between BS and MT (between BS and BS and between MT and BS). However, the equivalent channel gains are the concatenations of the propagation channel and the transmit FDE, and since, its impulse responses broaden over delay time-domain. The proposed scheme determines the window width for delay time-domain windowing so as to minimize the mean square error between the channel response estimates and the channel response at BS and MT. We evaluate, by the computer simulation, bit error rate (BER) performance when using the proposed scheme and show that the proposed scheme provides BER performance superior to when the window width is fixed.
