Theoretical Analysis of Distributed Cooperative Medium Access Control for Simultaneous Transmission

Abstract(in English) Total throughput degrades dramatically due to frame collisions and waiting time when there are many active transmitters using CSMA/CA. A medium access control method for simultaneous transmissions has ever been proposed by the former reports. The proposed method aims to use the capture effect to realize simultaneous transmission and higher overall throughput. To decide that transmitters operate simultaneous transmission, two decision methods have been proposed. However, these decision methods may cause degradation of throughput due to an error of SIR estimated by transmitter. In order to solve this problem, a retransmission control has also been proposed in the proposed method. In the method, the operation is changed to conventional CSMA/CA when retransmissions occur continuously. This paper shows an optimal number of continuous retransmission by theoretical analysis of the proposed method. The analysis and the simulation results show the optimal number of retransmission and the adequacy.
